Ingredients
1 kg. Squid
1 pc Onion, chopped
4 – 5 cloves Garlic, minced
3 tbsp. Cooking Oil
1 pc. Siling Labuyo or Chili Flakes
Pepper to taste
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1/4 cup Tomato Ketchup
2 tbsp. Brown Sugar or Honey
Instructions
- Clean the squid. Remove back bone and eye. After washing, drain squid in a colander for about 15 minutes. Slice each squid into three to four pieces to produce squid rings. Do not remove the black ink.
- Pre-heat oil in a pan . Sauté onion till soft. Add in the garlic and pepper. Sauté for about two minutes while constantly tossing.
- Add in the sugar and the soy sauce and stir mixture for 2 minutes. Add in squid and let cook for about 5 minutes, until the squid is tender. Stir occasionally.
- Once the squid is tender, add ketchup and siling labuyo/chilli flakes. Mix it well until the ketchup is evenly distributed. Turn off heat and serve hot. Best serve with rice. Enjoy!
