Sweet and Spicy Squid

- 1 kg. Squid

- 1 pc Onion chopped

- 4 - 5 cloves Garlic minced

- 3 tbsp. Cooking Oil

- 1 pc. Siling Labuyo or Chili Flakes

- Pepper to taste

- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce

- 1/4 cup Tomato Ketchup

- 2 tbsp. Brown Sugar or Honey

Clean the squid. Remove back bone and eye. After washing, drain squid in a colander for about 15 minutes. Slice each squid into three to four pieces to produce squid rings. Do not remove the black ink.
Pre-heat oil in a pan . Sauté onion till soft. Add in the garlic and pepper. Sauté for about two minutes while constantly tossing.
Add in the sugar and the soy sauce and stir mixture for 2 minutes. Add in squid and let cook for about 5 minutes, until the squid is tender. Stir occasionally.
Once the squid is tender, add ketchup and siling labuyo/chilli flakes. Mix it well until the ketchup is evenly distributed. Turn off heat and serve hot. Best serve with rice. Enjoy!
