Beef Mechado


500g beef cut into cubes

1 cup tomato sauce

1/4 cup soy sauce

1 cup water

5-6 cloves garlic, minced

1 onion, sliced

2 potatoes cut into cubes

1 big carrot, cut into cubes

2-3 Bay leaves

Salt & pepper to taste

Beef bullion (optional)

Oil for sautéing


1. Pre-heat a pan with oil. Saute garlic and onion until soft and translucent.

2. Add beef and render till golden brown.

3. Add tomato sauce, soy sauce, water and bay leaves. Season with salt and pepper according to your taste. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes on a low-medium heat.

4. After 30 minutes, check if the beef is cooked and soft. Then add potatoes and carrots. Simmer again for another 10 minutes or until the potatoes and carrots are soft. Then remove from the heat.

5. Transfer in a serving dish and ready to serve. Enjoy!
