Garlic Pork Tocino
Aling Oday’s version of Garlic Pork Tocino. Pork Tocino is a Filipino dish cured in sugar, salt, vinegar, and garlic. Usually serve with fried rice and fried egg for breakfast also known as Tosilog.
Servings: 8 -10
Ingredients
- 1 kg Pork kasim, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp. Salt
- 1 tbsp. Garlic grated or powder
- 1/4 tsp. Red Food Colouring
- 1 cup Water
- 1 tbsp. Lemon or Vinegar
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup Sugar
Instructions
- Mix sugar, water, salt, garlic, lemon or vinegar, soy sauce and red colouring in a sauce pan and let it boil. Set aside and let it cool down completely.
- Place the sliced pork in a bowl the add in the cooled liquid mixture, mix thoroughly and place in a tupperware and sealed. Refrigirate for at least 24 hours.
- Place the tocino in a pan and add a little bit of water just enough for the meat to soak. Cook in a medium heat till it dries up, add cooking oil and continue to fry till the meat is tender and properly cooked.
- Best serve with fried rice, atchara and fried egg for breakfast!
